THOUGHTS AND UPDATES

 THOUGHTS AND UPDATES

Just taking a moment to provide some updates. I am currently exploring and researching the vast area north and east of Kendrick Mountain. This is a remote area, and as such must be treated with respect. It is similar to mounting an all-day expedition, replete with adequate supplies and ample food to endure a day of travel and adventure.

I have a number of posts to create and build, which takes time. This is not helped by the fact that the local internet service is less than adequate, and further not helped by their insistence that subscribers should live stream their movies and shows. That little tiff aside, I am making progress and am excited to provide additional information, some of which even the Forest Service may be unaware of.

There will be a three part series on this area. As spurs and branch lines are explored, more will be forthcoming. Some findings are exciting, such as how far north the Saginaw extended, and a hint of switchbacks in the forest. This area has the unique distinction to hold the most switchbacks on the entire system. My thought is that a different engineer and surveyor were at work on this section. More on that later.

I would not be doing this unless I enjoyed it. The field research and documentation keeps me focused and provides purpose. Getting old has its drawbacks, but it also has its blessings like having the time to pursue this adventure.
